"Feeling safe" - 2022

Have you ever wondered why so many people are fascinated by the moon? Today, I’d like to share why it inspires me so deeply. Since I was a child, I have always looked out of the window, asking myself the same question: How can we all see the same sky but not each other? No matter where we are on this Earth, we all see the same sun, and probably the same moon.

As a child, I didn’t know much about astrophysics or how our planetary system works, even though I learned some basics at school. For me, it felt more like magic, something I could see but never reach, something that changed shapes and positions without an obvious cause.

Growing older hasn’t diminished my awe of the universe. Even now, with a better understanding of the science behind it all, my inner child still believes in this magical phenomenon. I feel the energy of a full moon and the power of a new moon - just as nature does.

Reflecting on this, I recently noticed something intriguing about my paintings: many of them feature a moon or sun, and every character in these paintings faces it. That realization struck me: no matter where we are or who we are, we’re all somehow connected, simply by looking at the sky.

Countless nights, I’ve gazed at the moon, wondering: How many stories has it overheard? How many laughs, tears, fears, and worries have people shared with it in the dark? How many prayers, songs, and works of art have been dedicated to something that so few of us will ever see up close?

And yet, the moon has always been there, constant and enduring. It was here long before us, and it will remain for ages to come.. just like us.

Each person carries a moon within them. It’s something that glows during our darkest moments, something that goes through phases yet always reappears. It’s the energy that influences those around us, often without us realizing it. It’s the power to inspire others who observe us from afar.

When we watch the moon, we’re dedicating a moment to our thoughts and emotions. We’re honest, silent, and open with something that never judges or questions us. The moon seems to remind us: If it can exist in the total darkness and vastness of the universe while still reflecting light, then there’s nothing for us to fear.

So, take a moment to be romantic. Look up at the moon. Share your thoughts, or simply enjoy the silence. Just be - even if it’s only for a night.

Here are some photos from my personal collection as a hobbyist photographer.
