Thinking Outside, Inside and All Around the Box

If you know me, you’d probably say I’m someone who thinks outside the box. I love experimenting with materials and new ideas - I can fix things, recreate things, and build things - no manual required. I’m also able to spot an “issue” early, before it even appears, and already have a solution in mind.
On the flip side, if you find me in a different context, you’ll see another side of me: someone who thrives on structure, clarity, and careful planning. I’m more likely to observe quietly from the background, analyzing the dynamics before stepping in.

And then, there’s this other version of me, the one who thinks all around the box, sometimes even upside down. That’s the part of me that starts five projects at once because an idea just can’t wait. I’ll throw myself into something new, even if I don’t have everything I need to finish it. I dive into paintings with no clear vision of the final result, just letting creativity take over. And my favorite part? In those moments, my inner perfectionist packs up and takes a well-earned vacation.
The inspiration for this post comes from all three of these mindsets. I was sitting on my balcony, enjoying the peaceful afternoon sounds of birds and reading a book about spirituality to get my daily dose of insight.
Suddenly, my attention wandered to a new project: the colorful wall I’d been recreating. I started imagining how the space would look once I added the final touch - sunset-colored curtains. And that’s when it hit me: how fun would it be to share ideas on bringing color into your home, without worrying about creating picture-perfect Instagram results?
Now here I am, typing away, sharing this thought while another part of my brain sings “Always Look on the Bright Side of Life” by Monty Python on repeat.
If I could paint my personality onto a canvas, it would look a little chaotic - but unmistakably me:
Beautiful, joyful, unique, with a hint of mysticism and a surprising harmony to it all.
So, dear reader, if you also feel like a blend of contrasts, a perfect storm of colors with a touch of chaos, then welcome to my world. It’s a place where you can be messy and meticulous at the same time, playful but reflective, colorful yet monochrome, bursting with energy yet content in stillness.
It’s a place where being yourself is infinitely more enjoyable than trying to fit into someone else’s mold. After all, every piece of art needs inspiration, but the final creation will always bear the mark of the artist’s heart and focus - unique, imperfect, and entirely your own.
Last but not least, to give you a real feel for what I’ve been rambling about, here’s the journey of my balcony’s transformation over the past three years. From a blank slate to a cozy - colorful oasis, it’s been a ride full of ideas, experiments, and a little bit of magic along the way.
And now it's your turn: What inspires you to design your space?
