The Challenge
Every single time I’m impressed by how a challenge in my life turns out to be a great and inspiring idea. Since January this year, I’ve been searching for some practical ways to turn my paintings into digital form so I can finally make prints.
Unfortunately, there were many difficulties. The material I paint on (cardboard) is too thick or too big for scanners. I contacted so many stores in my region, and every single time I got the same response: “Unfortunately we cannot help you. You need a special museum scanner, or use a professional camera and Photoshop for that.”
That’s actually the only reason why I haven’t been able to sell prints of my art yet. I really tried, using my old Canon camera and even my smartphone, but the results were not satisfying at all because I don’t really know how to manage the settings. The structure and intensity of the colors were missing, and the quality was nothing I felt proud to sell.
The Search
Being an upcoming artist without a big savings account forces you to be very specific with your spending, especially when it comes to expensive equipment like a professional camera, a good laptop, or a printer.
But I didn’t give up! I kept asking other artists about their ways of digitalizing and asking everyone I know if they had any alternatives. And then finally, after 8 months of searching, a miracle happened: I found someone who could help me within an affordable budget.
That means: Hurray! Really soon, I’m going to be able to start making prints!
Plan B

However, if you know me, you know I could never just sit still without looking for a plan B in case I can’t afford, for now, a photographer or a professional camera.
Pretty soon, I realized I needed to paint on a more “common” surface, something that could be scanned and copied in any store, and that wouldn’t cost me as much as a monthly rent to reproduce. That was the moment my new favorite way of painting was born: Postcards!
Since July, I’ve been trying this new approach. At first, it was only a personal experiment, but over time it turned into a playful new way for me to create art. As someone who loves acrylics, working with watercolors felt like stepping into a completely new adventure. I was afraid I would miss the structure of cardboard, but I was curious to see how this whole technique really works.
The Postcards
At first, I started while visiting my family in Scotland, where I captured some joyful memories on small pieces of paper (still using acrylics at that point). Slowly, I began to taste the potential of watercolors.
The best part? No expensive equipment or material was needed. Just me, my creativity, my excitement for trying something new, and the inspiration of my life right now.
And here I am today: creating beautiful and playful postcards for upcoming events and occasions, with a small sense of humor, coziness, hope, and a taste of love for the beauty around us.
What’s Next
I’m really looking forward to posting them soon in my store and giving you the chance to get a little piece of art in a pocket-sized version, for you and your loved ones.
Here’s a peek at my current works, which will soon be available for you!
